The emission of carbon dioxide in one year in Europe could be minimized to 25 million tones by switching to the energy saving lamps and by improving energy consumption.
After a huge discussion between the members of European Commission and automobile industry to reduce (minimize) the emission of exhaust gases, the initiative for ecological education is continuing. Energy board of European Parliament and the representatives of national parliaments of the member states of the European Union discussed the utilization of energy sources of EU countries.
They all agree that the future saving of the energy sources is necessary, and by delaying every day that kind of action is a big mistake. It is a common attitude that the improvement of energy power efficiency and coordination of power needs of the Union has never been more important. One of the conclusions was that every individual can greatly influence energy saving in every day life. Residential buildings currently use 40% of European energy, and private houses two-thirds, so by using the energy saving bulbs, which use 5 times less electricity than the standard ones, the citizens can make a big step forward.
It was estimated that putting the electrical appliances like TV or DVD on stand by consumes 10% of the total energy quantity used by European families. Due to that fact by the beginning of January new regulations of European Energy legislature concerning the usage of energy in residential buildings, have been taken into effect.
With those measures new ways of calculating energy needs have been set up for all the buildings in the Union countries, and, also, the package of minimal standard for energy usage has been introduced, as well as the program for certification of the building, which will enable the citizens to access the consumption of their families.
German Minister of Environmental Protection Sigmar Gabriel requested from the European Commissary Stavros Dimas to change the standard bulbs with those in conformity with European standards of energy saving. In the letter that Gabriel sent to the European Commission he emphasizes the fact that Europe can’t allow itself the products whose level of efficiency is only 5%, like it is the case with traditional bulbs.
Primary argument for starting such an initiative was found in the studies which show that the emission of carbon dioxide in one year in Europe could be minimized to 25 million tones if the citizens and service industry change the standard bulbs with the energy saving ones
