ASTUCIA is an English company which is working on road safety. They’ve presented to the public their new invention – “solar lite” led road signs that are working on solar energy. Before they presented it, they’ve tested it on 120 British roads, and the results showed that the number of road accidents during the night decreased for 70%.Solar lite offers visibility of 900m, which gives the drivers more then 30 seconds to react. With the standard projecting markers the time to react is little more than 3 seconds. “Solar Lite” accumulates the energy from the sun during the day, and the expected lifetime of the device is from eight to ten years.
It is still not certain when they will start to sell the product outside Great Britain, nor how much it will cost.
